You can also get useful information about what is involved in having a cochlear implant by clicking on "public" on www.bcig.org, a website created and maintained by the British Cochlear Implant Group, a professional body which represents all cochlear implant centres and other specialist medical practitioners working in the UK.
In addition you may want to glance at www.nciua.demon.co.uk, a website for CI users which lists several other relevant websites and gives the contact details for local CI user support groups.
